I don’t really have much to blog about right now. I could tell you about how I’m *finally* running again and I’m scared it won’t be enough training for the 8K later this month. I could tell you about how I finally got off my ass and bought a pair of pants that fits me only to have a friend tell me that they look big in the region of pants that makes an ass look saggy. I could tell you lots of awfully boring things, but there really isn’t much to say, and do you really want to hear them?
I do have a huge number of book reviews to update. I’ve been reading like a fiend. When I made the switch to my New Grown-Up Blog (hahahahahahahahahahahahaha) I combined my old book blog with the regular one. But I don’t really want to spam readers with ALL MY THOUGHTS on ALL THE BOOKS. Unless you want me to.
Uh. Do you want me to?
Otherwise, I need to figure out how to create a sub-blog thingy for book reviews that skip the regular RSS. Anybody know any tricks? Yes, I can google. I just don’t want to yet. So there.
Oh. Of those 2 awesome locations for a vacation with My Insane Mother and dad later this year? 1 has been picked. I would probably have preferred the other, but both are a huge win. Now I need an entire new wardrobe because I have nothing other than work clothes that fit me. And apparently even those don’t fit me. Sheesh.
What are your packing essentials for a week-long trip to a temperate climate where you’ll do a TON of walking on cobblestones? It’s not soon, I know, but as I buy clothes slowly over the next bunch of months, I’d like to keep the trip in mind and buy thoughtfully. So far, I’m thinking skinny jeans, comfortable flats, a jacket, a lightweight raincoat… and ?? Tons of t-shirts, sweaters, cardigans. Maybe a dress or skirt? This place might have some churches worth visiting which might require skirts and/or shoulder coverings. Sigh. Any ideas?

The Athleta dipper pants are fantastic and you can wash them in a hotel sink. hang them up in the shower, and they are dry by morning. You cant go wrong with them!

Spam away :) I am always looking for books to add to my to-read list…whether I ever make any progress on it is another issue entirely, ha.

Oh my. You don’t know what you’re asking for…. but since you’re the only person who’s responded so far, you’re going to win :)

Oh no. I’m the bitchy friend that told me your pants looked too big. :( I think your thighs are just too tiny. They fit well everywhere else!
Don’t worry too much about training for the 8k. I’m certain that I’m going to have to walk some. Even if I ran every day from now until the race, 5 miles is a LONG way for me to run without stopping.
My essentials for a week-long trip with lots of walking all revolve around comfort. I think the list you have is pretty good. Maybe a few dresses. Bring a versatile jacket that can be worn with numerous outfits.

I didn’t say the friend was bitchy! And, if only my thighs were too tiny… sigh.
I’ve decided I’m running every other day. Whichever weekend day I run will be “long” – I’m thinking 45 minutes this Sunday, 55 next Saturday, and 50ish (more if I feel good) the Sunday after that to get me ready. Week mornings will be 25-35 mins depending on how well I get out of bed. Hopefully I’ll be close to in shape ish.
Good call on the dresses. Full outfit in just one garment! I might make you help me shop one of these days, but no hurry.

Scarves and long and short-sleeved t-shirts work wonders. I would use a scarf to drape around my shoulders in churches. That usually did the trick.
Skinny jeans and comfy flats are a great idea as well (I bought a pair of flats from Patagonia that are cute, comfy, and LIGHT (great for packing).
I know you’re not a fan of leggings, but under dresses, they are amazing for traveling. I wear them like I’d wear tights.

I’ve definitely done the scarf-as-church-appropriateness-maker many times. Works wonders. Extra bonus that it can also work in the rain or a mosque in a pinch.
I’m thinking skinny jeans, comfy flats, a variety of mix-n-match long and short-sleeve t-shirts, maybe a pair of skinny pants that aren’t jeans (black, I’m sure).. a fitted cotton jacket that works zipped and open and doesn’t destroy my skin tone in pictures? a dress? Maybe a pair of sandals (not flip-flops) that are comfy but nice enough to dress up a little (perhaps with a dress?) but not so nice that I can’t wear jeans with them… And I’ve determined that I need (WANT) a cross-body bag with a chain strap (chains can’t be cut by muggers as easily, so IT IS PRACTICAL, PETE, I NEED IT).
