When I review books, I’ll give them ratings. These are highly subjective and are based only on what I think. As a type A logicbeast, I like putting things in order. Especially ranking things from good to bad and bad to good. THIS IS HOW IT MUST BE. To that end, here is (more or less) what the ratings mean on a scale of 1 – 10. This pertains to both whether the book should be read in the first place, and whether it should be read again. Rereading is my favorite. It’s like discovering a long-lost friend.

IT’S A WITCH! BURN IT!
No, don’t.
Burning books is bad.
But don’t read it either.
Not even a pity read.
![]()
Why does it exist?
Totally unnecessary.
If seen, walk on by.
![]()
Not as bad as it could have been.
But still not good.
Definitely NOT GOOD.
No rereading.
![]()
Doesn’t do much for me.
Will not reread.
![]()
Utter ambivalence.
Don’t hate it; don’t love it.
Don’t care if I ever see it again.
Don’t care if I never see it again.

Glad I read it once.
Might pick it up again later.
If there isn’t anything else to read.
Or if I’m bored.
![]()
Highly enjoyable.
On the reread eventually shelf.

Pretty damn great.
I will read it again.
![]()
Close to perfection.
Will be reread repeatedly.

DROP EVERYTHING AND READ this book.
Ramona Quimby would.
You should do.
Read it again.
And again.
And again.
